Permission To Use Song

Here is the email that I planned to send out to the record company who had copyright of Pixie Lott's song, this was so I ensured it was okay to use the song for my music video and to avoid any problems when doing my music video, if I put it on YouTube or something like that!

Magazine Advert Draft

This is my magazine advert draft, my first draft is to have the artist walking away from the camera, showing just the back of her, with lights in the background blurred. I thought this could be quite effective as it would be at night time, so with the song title being ' All About Tonight' it could show that the artist is walking to her destination of having this 'great' night or is walking home from it, I will probably come up with more possible ideas before I create this production.

   It also features the title of the single/album, and the artist's name. It also states the date in which the CD is released.

Target Audience for my Music Video

I am going to discuss the type of person who would watch my music video.

I am female and I am 17 years old, I study at my sixth form, doing subjects like Media Studies, English and Psychology. For my free time, I enjoy socializing with friends, shopping, reading magazines, watching films and staying up to date in the latest fashion and media events!
I love to watch music videos online because I am often on my laptop, so going on YouTube is always fun, and a break from doing work! But I also enjoy watching TV and often flick over to the music channels, so watching my favourite music videos and the latest out is good to see.
When watching music videos, I like to see a variety of different costumes, especially if it’s a female artist, I love to see what outfits they wear, and to also give me inspiration on what to wear, as I look up to many female artists!
I also like to see many different shots, especially when it’s a fast paced song, its fun to watch the music video keep changing from scene to scene as it makes the video feel more exciting and keeps me more interested to watch it.
When reading through magazines, when I come across a CD/artist advert for their new single or album, I like to see the artist on the spread, but I also find it interesting when there is different types of shots used and it’s not the typical ‘face to camera’ shot.
When buying CD’s, I like to see the artist on the front cover, as it grabs my attention and I know straight away who it is and if I’d like to buy it. I then like to see the list of songs on the back, this doesn’t have to have the artist’s face on, as its quite nice to just read the tracks with a simple background. On the inside, it’s really cool when the CD itself has a picture on, this could be of the artist or just something to do with the theme of album, and it’s really interesting to see more pictures of the performer on the inside of the cover, in the booklet.
Overall, I think I represent the ‘typical’ teen image; I would be classified as a ‘mainstreamer’, who follows the latest trends, listens to the latest music and do things that are typical of most kids our age, we have aspects of individuality, but are generally the type to shop in mainstream popular shops like Topshop and River Island.

Props and Costumes

I have already shot some scenes of my music video, and as most of my camera shots were extreme close up/close up, I didn't use any props, and had a simple outfit for my actor. She wore a white crop top with leggings, and then also had gold heels which I used for some shots of her walking. I also focused on the actors makeup as this was mainly going to be seen in the shot, she wore red lipstick to stand out and simple make-up as if she was going out.

Digi Pack draft

These are my drafts for my digipack ideas. I drew out two front and back covers, and then the inside of the cover. Although they aren't in great detail, I still think they will help me when designing the real product as I have an idea of what I need to do and possible ideas.

This is one of my drafts for my digipack front and back cover. I think this one would be successful because it features the artist on the front, and then has a image of the artist walking in heels across the back, which fits in with my music video theme.

 This is my second digipack front and back cover drafts, I think this one would also be successful because it features the artist on the front with a close up, and then features the fairylights which I used in my greenscreen, so they create a blurred effect which would be on the back.

This is the inside of my digipack, it features the booklet which shows the artist on a road, looking back at the camera, walking away. I thought this would look really effective with lights in the background and if shot at night time, with spot lights on the artist to make her stand out.

This is the actual CD in the digipack, it shows a high heeled shoe, with the title of the song featured as a tattoo on the foot, I thought this is quite effective as it fits in with the whole 'glamour' theme of my shoot.

First Shoot- Greenscreen

My first shooting of my music video was done infront of the greenscreen at my school, it was a success and was really good to see how it all got set up, and here are a few pictures below:

This is a short video I made on Adobe Premiere Pro, it features the song I am going to use in my music video, and stills from my storyboard, which are fitted to the right timings of the song to give me a rough idea of when I am going to use each shot.

Diary Entry 13

During the last week, I shot my first few shots of my music video using the greenscreen in my school, I brought in fairylights for the background and used a blackdrop, after setting up all the lighting and using the shallow focus camera which is the 550D, it looked really good and was exciting to see it come together. I am not going to be using much of the greenscreen shots but I got more than I needed incase I changed my mind, I also did my photoshoot too, the pictures came out looking really good!

Diary Entry 12

This week was the week back after half term, and I need to start thinking about filming in the next month, I aim to have a majority of my filming done by the christmas holidays, so I can then spend the next few months editing it.

  I have been completing my drawings for my digipack and storyboard this week, I now need to start working more progressively and use as much spare time I have as possible to get everything ready and completed to start filming.  I hope to start filming my music video next Thursday the 10th, I will be shooting at school and getting all the green screen done using my school's equipment.
